2017 MOCOFB ELITE-SIX - WEEK EIGHT

RK TEAM PTS VOTES

1

DAMASCUS (10 1st place votes)

7-0. LW: #1

Congrats to Jordan Funk on his commitment to the United States Military Academy... Swarmin' Hornets won their 35th straight against Watkins Mill, 42-18. Notice the scores of these games? 41 points scored in Week 1, 42 in Week 2, 54, 52, 42, and 42. Damascus is hosting 2-5 Walter Johnson next and we are expecting Damascus to hit 50 again.

60 10/10

2

QUINCE ORCHARD

6-1. LW: #2

I think the difference between Damascus and QO is the Cougars' 48-minute commitment to a shutout. QO picked up their second shutout versus Einstein in 47-0 win last week. Undefeated Bullis is the only team to score double digits against the Cougars, the others scored 8 point or less. Up next is 2-5 Wheaton before their big game versus rival Northwest.

50 10/10

3

NORTHWEST

6-1. LW: #3

Huge scare for Northwest last week against Richard Montgomery. The Jaguars were down 18-0 for the first 18 minutes of the game before outscoring the Rockets 49-6 for the win. This has to be the biggest deficit the program has overcome in its 20 years of existence. RM is dangerous but no way an unranked team should be up against an Elite 6er by three scores, ever. Does RM really have Northwest's number? Is Northwest just a slow starter (it proved to be so far in just about every game this year)? Whitman's up next for the Jags who just experienced their first taste of victory under rookie head coach Dave Fyock against their Bethesda rival Walter Johnson, 27-7.

39 10/10

4

SHERWOOD

6-1. LW: #4

Dropped 62 points against Northwood last week and now face their first Elite-6 opponent in Paint Branch since Damascus. The Warriors take care of business on all facet of the game proved by their high scoring offense and shutdown defense. They're the clear favorites against Paint Branch.

31 10/10

5

PAINT BRANCH

6-1. LW: #5

Took care of Gaithersburg 53-14 for homecoming for their 3rd, 40+ point output for the season. Panthers face Sherwood in Warriors' final home game of the regular season.

18 10/10

6

JAMES H. BLAKE

6-1. LW: #6

Blake has been doing a great job taking care of business winning games they're suppose to win. 0-7 Rockville is next on deck before a showdown with an Elite 6er in Paint Branch the following week.
