2018 MOCOFB ELITE-SIX - WEEK FOUR

RK TEAM PTS VOTES

1

DAMASCUS (10 1st place votes)

3-0. LW: #1, (with 12 1st place votes)

COACH OWENS: They are the best for the last 3 plus years. I'm not ready to put anyone ahead of them.

JASON H-B: The Hornets have continued their stronghold on the state of Maryland after crushing Rockville over the weekend. I don’t see much changing this week as they host Magruder this week.

MATT COHEN: Another dominant win for Damascus as the win streak goes up to 45. The new faces for the Hornets are settling. Frankly, the most surprising thing about the win over Rockville was that the Rams actually scored.

2

QUINCE ORCHARD (7 1st place vote)

3-0. LW: #2, (with 5 1st place vote)

COACH OWENS: Huge game vs Bullis coming up.
JASON H-B: The Cougars thwarted what seems to be a rising Clarksburg team fairly easily. Now this good be a sign of the Cougars being REALLY good or Clarksburg not being as good as they’ve looked. We’ll find out this week for sure as they head to Bullis.
MATT COHEN: Brian Plummer has looked great as the new QO quarterback. Having weapons like Marquez Cooper and Brendan McGonagle have certainly eased the transition. The Cougars have a huge game coming up this week on the road against Bullis.

3

NORTHWEST

3-0. LW: #3

COACH OWENS: Very quietly just going about business.
JASON H-B: The Jaguars defeated Seneca Valley in one of the most lopsided victories in the history of the King’s Trophy Game. Let’s see if they can continue this momentum as the Trojans are coming to town.
MATT COHEN: Northwest dominated to win the King’s Trophy yet again. The Jaguars beat Seneca Valley 35-0. This defense on this team is loaded with D1 talent.

4

PAINT BRANCH

3-0. LW: #4

COACH OWENS: Oh man is that defense tough. Some big tests coming up.
JASON H-B: Has there been a hotter team on the rise than Paint Branch this season? The Panthers have yet to be scored on this season, but they head to Blair and Coach Fields is known to have some tricks up his sleeve. This game could be the game of the week.
MATT COHEN: The Paint Branch defense is the real deal. The Panthers have not allowed a point this season, winning their games by a combined 128-0. Even after losing Durell Nchami, this defense may even be better.

LW: 54

LW: 16/17

5

JAMES H. BLAKE

2-1. LW: #5

COACH OWENS: Good teams beat bad teams. Well done.
JASON H-B: Other than Week 1, the Bengals have not given up a score to opposing teams and so far they’ve played Damascus to their closest game. These Bengals are definitely causing some ruckus in the 3A and I expect more to come this week when they host Poolesville.
MATT COHEN: Another lower caliber opponent, another dominant Blake win. Blake hasn’t allowed a point since losing to Damascus to start the season.

30

LW: 30

17/17

LW: 15/17

6

WINSTON CHURCHILL

3-0. LW: #6

COACH OWENS: Very impressed so far. Coach Williams has them playing very tough, hard-nosed football.
JASON H-B: The Bulldogs are making a believer out of me. They’re firing on all cylinders and are definitely on the rise. I don’t know if we’ll really know where they stand until weeks 6, but sorry Whitman, I don’t see Churchill stumbling this week.
MATT COHEN: The Churchill offense rolled yet again, putting up 49 points for the second straight week. It’s still been all about Michael Janis and Patrick Richardson for the Bulldogs. Churchill should have another big offensive night against Whitman in Week 4.
