QUINCE ORCHARD (17 1st place votes) 2-0. LW: #1, (with 17 1st place votes)
Jason H-B: Pulled away from Damascus is a tight one at the end. This team reminds me a lot of Mark Pierce/EJ Lee's NW team where they could easily go back-to-back and have a All Met - Running back. Kudos to Mr. Cooper on breaking the all time Rushing Record at QO as well. Coach Owens: ...duh "Hambonepack": Still the King of MOCOFB! Lee Oliver: The Machine that is QO continues to roll. They soundly beat a Damascus team that is in a lower division, but can hang athlete for athlete with anyone. QO is one of the best in the county. |

NORTHWEST 2-0. LW: #2
Jason H-B: The Jaguars gutted out a tough one against Paint Branch last week. These boys are fast and fly to the ball on defense. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of these Jaguars. Coach Owens: Will have to play better to beat QO "Hambonepack": It will be interesting to see how this team gels over the next few weeks with all of their new weapons, can all of the pieces come together? Lee Oliver: Congrats to Coach Neubs, he has passed Coach Trivers for all time winningest coach at NW. He has the team playing some really good ball early in the season and they beat a very good PB team. |

DAMASCUS 0-2. LW: #3
Jason H-B: Probably the only 0-2 team that could make a viable case for being number 2 in the County. Definitely looks like they'll have to win out the rest of the way to make the Playoffs, but I completely expect to see them complete the task. Coach Owens: A team that has "lost" 3 in a row and is ranked 3rd. Folks need to be afraid of angry hornets. "Hambonepack": It may seem too high for an 0-2 team but can any team ranked below them actually beat them? Lee Oliver: 0-2 doesn't seem right for the number 3 team in the Elite 6 team, but Damascus will right the ship. They are loaded with talent. They should have a bounce back game against a fairly decent Magruder team. |

JAMES H. BLAKE 2-0. LW: #5
Jason H-B: The Bengals are starting off hot this year with what many would still consider an upset over a quality Sherwood program. Definitely interested to see how they look this week in some divisional play. Coach Owens: Biggest win in school history. How do they follow it up? "Hambonepack": Off to a great start with a quality win over rival Sherwood. Next up, Watkins Mill, can the Bengals keep up the momentum Lee Oliver: Another good start to a season for Blake, they beat Sherwood in an OT thriller and showed they can hang with pretty much anyone.

RICHARD MONTGOMERY 2-0. LW: NR
Coach Owens: All they do is win consistently and impressively. Klotz is a top coach that doesn't get nearly enough credit. "Hambonepack": Off to a 2-0 start but the key to remaining in the Elite 6 rankings means winning the games you are supposed to win. Lee Oliver: RM is new to the list this year, they are 2-0 and are currently scoring just shy of 38pts per game, this includes a shut out of Churchill this past week.

PAINT BRANCH 1-1. LW: #4
Jason H-B: Played Northwest close, but couldn't finish the job. Definitely expect them to still be contenders later on down the line this year. Coach Owens: I want to see their offense get going before I move them up. That being said, I think their Einstein win might look better as the year goes on. "Hambonepack": Lots of athletes on both sides of the ball, how will they respond after a tough loss to Northwest? Lee Oliver: They held their own against NW, they are playing good ball, but they are almost sitting at a net 0 in terms of PF vs. PA. The next couple division games will show that they are one of the top teams in the county. |

Jason H-B on Blair: "In what's supposed to be a "down period" post regime change, the Blazers are off to a pretty good start. There a couple teams who could vie for 6th, but with a win against what I think will end up being a good Watkins Mill team, they've got my vote!"
