Blair alum Visanthe Shiancoe was named to Vikings.com's, "Top 10 Free Agent Signings" of the Minnesota Vikings, coinciding with the NFL's 100th Anniversary celebration. Shiancoe played at Minnesota from 2007-2011. He caught passes from Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre in 2009-10.
Visanthe Shiancoe was drafted by the New York Giants out of Morgan State University (under coach Donald Hill-Eley) in the 3rd round, 91st overall, of the 2003 NFL Draft. Shiancoe totaled 875 receiving yards for the Bears, putting him at 15th on MSU's all-time career receiving list.
In his 11 years in the NFL, the 6'4", 250 lbs tight end amassed 2,679 receiving yards from 245 receptions, and 27 touchdowns. He started in 66 of his 80 regular season games with the Vikings.
Shiancoe played in the late 1990's under Coach James Short with the Blair Blazers.
Vikings.com's Top 10 All-time Free Agent list also includes Brett Favre, Cris Carter, and Randall Cunningham.
