If every MOCo's team's last win was their 42nd, how far do we have to go to win #1?

I remember hearing stories about the 1969 Wheaton team snapping Richard Montgomery's 35-game win streak, then I recalled Einstein snapping Seneca Valley's 41-game win streak in 2001. Could you imagine the contrast of emotions on the sidelines of witnessing such a game? The Montgomery County benchmark of wins in a row now is at 42 currently held by Damascus. That's a great number. One of my favorite NFL players of all-time wore that number (Ronnie Lott), and it reminds me a lot of my favorite words in the dictionary, "fortitude."
That 42-game win streak is tied with Wise (Prince George's County) for the longest active in Maryland. It sits on 3rd place in the state record books just behind Urbana's 50 wins in a row between 1998-2001 and Howard's 47 from 1971-1975. It is also tied for 2nd longest active in the country.
LONGEST WIN STREAKS (MARYLAND) |
LONGEST ACTIVE WIN STREAK (NATION) as of AUG 18, 2018 |
1st Urbana, 50 (1998-2001) | 1st Lamar (MO): 49 wins |
2nd Howard, 47 (1971-1975) | 2nd Damascus (MD): 42 wins |
3rd Damascus, 42 (2015-active) | 2nd Wise (MD): 42 wins |
3rd Wise, 42 (2015-active) | 4th Caledonia (MN): 41 |
4th Seneca Valley, 41 (1997-2000) | 4th Simmons (MS): 41 |
5rd River Hill, 40 (2007-2009) | 6th Royal (WA): 40 |
Kimberly HS (Wisconsin)'s 70-game win streak was snapped earlier this year by Fond du Lac HS. Soldotna (Alaska)'s 59-game win streak was snapped by West HS. Both streaks were ended on the last play of the game. Kimberly lost 31-28 on a field goal by senior kicker Jared Scheberl of Fond du Lac. And a week prior, Soldotna lost 18-13 after a 1-yard run by Bubba Mendoza of West.
Who's in Damascus' way on the road to the record?
wk 1 vs Blake | win 43? |
wk 2 at Sherwood | win 44? |
wk 3 at Rockville | win 45? |
wk 4 vs Magruder | win 46? |
wk 5 at Poolesville | win 47? |
wk 6 vs Clarksburg | win 48? |
wk 7 at Watkins Mill | win 49? |
wk 8 vs Walter Johnson | win 50? |
wk 9 vs Seneca Valley | win 51? |
wk10 at Wootton | win 52? |
wk 11 playoffs | win 53? |
... | ... |
A week 8 win at home versus Larry Hurd, Jr-led Walter Johnson will tie the state record. To get the state record, they will have to do so against rival Seneca Valley the following week.
Now for some fun...
If every Montgomery County football team's last win was their 42nd? How far do we have to go back in history to get to the first victory?
The table below lists each team's road to their latest 42 wins, starting up top with the least amount of games to the most. Some teams did not win any games in 2017, so we didn't count any of those games in the span.

*Northwood closed after the 1984 season. The school reopened in 2006. There was no football between 1985-2005.
This stat is amazing, intriguing... maybe pointless and offensive to some but it was fun putting it together. What do you think? What was the #1 hit song at the time your team's road to the latest 42 wins begin? Who was the president of the United States?
What will happen on Friday night? Does Blake end the mark at 42 or do you see it extending even further?
