Northwest football coach Mike Neubeiser was named 2018-2019 Maryland football Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS).

Northwest under Mike Neubeiser is currently ranked second in the MoCo Football Elite Six (Top 6), ranked #8 in the Maryland High School Football Media State Poll (Top 25), and #10 in the Washington Post Top 20 football teams in the D.C. Metropolitan Area.

As head coach of the Jaguars, Neubeiser has 77 wins and 26 loses. He became Northwest's winningest high school football head man when he won his 100th game with win #74 in Week 2; besting Randy Trivers' 73 wins from 1998-2006. Northwest (6-0) is averaging 40.3 PPG and allowing just 9.8 PPG. The Jags play 2-4 Clarksburg this Friday, and vs. undefeated Quince Orchard the following week; perhaps one of the most anticipated games in the state.

18 coaches in different sports across Maryland have been honored as NFHS Coach of the Year since 1981. Of the 18 coaches, six are from Montgomery County. Northwest's Robert Youngblood- who has been active in assisting Northwest football was named Coach of the Year for boys AND girls outdoor track.

The other coaches honored in Montgomery County include Gio Reumante (Northwood | Cross Country), Brendan Lees (Sherwood | Swimming & Diving), Ashley Barber-Strunk (Sherwood | Softball), and Stephanie Blake (Northwest | Volleyball).
