Week 1: MoCo briefs: best of the rest

Watkins Mill 42 - Poolesville 12
Mike Offutt rushed 14 times for 134 yards and a touchdown. Deontray Georgewas superb for the orange and blue with a 34-yard interception for a TD, a 61-yard punt return for a TD, and a 12 yard run for a TD. For Poolesville, WR Jonah Hessels caught 5 balls for 103 yards and a touchdown and caught an interception on defense. QB Kirby Carmack was 6-for-11 106 yards a TD and 2 INTs. The Falcons combined to rush for 148 yards. 58 of those rush yards coming fromNikolay Henze.
Springbrook 13 - Northwood 6
Blue Devils LB Xavier Williams scooped up a fumble and returned in 45 yards for a score.
B-CC 20 - Blair 6
Cory Applequist rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown. But the Barons' defense was the story of the day with Nicholas Halo returning an interception 38 yards for a touchdown and Alexander Shapiro scooping up a fumble for a score as well. Blair running back Peter Gondor provided the spark for the Blazers with his 78 yards rushing and one TD.
Blake 20 - Northwest (OT)
Will Scott, William Sewell, and Justin Ingram combined for 192 yards and three touchdowns for the Bengals. Jags' junior QB Matty Callahan threw 14 completions for 144 yards and two TD's in a losing effort.
Magruder 14 - Walter Johnson 0
The Colonels' Tyrii Jackson's 49 yards led all rushers. Magruder totaled 168 yards on the ground. Wildcats' Andrew Pitsenberger rushed for only 17 yards.
Churchill 40 - Kennedy 0
Bulldogs' Curtis Kamara rushed for 129 yards and two TDs. Lansana Keitawas 11-for-15 for 197 yards and two TDs passing.
Northwestern 28 - Wheaton 8
Ayinde Warren rushed 15 times for 69 yards and a touchdown to lead the Knights running game.
Avalon 32 - Bishop Walsh 7
Black Knights' running back Rashid Ibrahim averaged 9.5 a carry by rushing twelve times for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Jacqueel Vii had a hat trick of touchdowns with one run going for 63 yards. He also returned a kickoff 79 yards to the house.
Bullis 49 - St. Mary's Ryken 33
The Bullis Bulldogs are this week's highest scoring team in MoCo. Running backKevin Jones punished with 16 rushes for 180 yards and four touchdowns. QBKylor Bellistri went 7-for-9 93 yards and a passing touchdown. He rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown and scored on a two-point conversion as well.
