2019 MOCOFB ELITE-SIX - POST REG. SEASON RANKING

PRESENTED BY REHAB 2 PERFORM

RK TEAM PTS VOTES

1

QUINCE ORCHARD (17 1st place votes)

9-0. LW: #1, (with 17 1st place votes)

Neal Owens: Prediction - will win 4A

Jason H-B: Can't say I've seen many better seasons than Quince Orchard had this year. The Cougars dominated teams and showed the other top teams who number 1 was on the field of play. Congrats to this team as they prepare to book another ticket to Annapolis. They'll most likely run into some challenges along the way, but they are definitely battle tested and prepared.

"Amateragi": Averaged 49 points a game and gave up 35 points all season. Like most years, it's state championship or bust for the Cougars.

2

DAMASCUS

7-2. LW: #2

Neal Owens: Prediction - will win 3A

Jason H-B: Revenge of the Swarmin' Hornets Tour '19 is in the books as they now look to start another run at states. The 3A is loaded with talented teams and it won't be easy, but we know that team off 27 is ready for the task at hand.

"Amateragi": In the early rounds of the playoffs, their opponents' goal may not be to win or even score, but get positive yardage.

3

NORTHWEST

8-1. LW: #3

Neal Owens: Prediction - will fall to QO

Jason H-B: The Jaguars showed they belong in the conversation for States this year by hanging with Quince Orchard. I definitely don't count these boys out as Neubeiser is notorious for making the playoff adjustments to make a run at the title this year. Congrats to them for finishing the season strong and bouncing back. They look angry and ready for a rematch against the top dog (or cat technically) in the county.

"Amateragi": Hungry for a rematch with QO - which, if we're lucky, may get to happen in Annapolis.

4

PAINT BRANCH

8-1. LW: #4

Neal Owens: Prediction - will win their region and fall in state semis

Jason H-B: Kings of the 4A North in the regular season for certain, but now comes part 2. This team is definitely poised and has the defense to contend. Neither one of the other top two cats (Jaguars and Cougars) better overlook them, as they could be the sleeper team going into the playoffs.

"Amateragi": Getting used to seeing them finish the regular season with 8-9 wins, but here's hoping for a better performance in the playoffs this time around.

5

RICHARD MONTGOMERY

7-2. LW: #5

Neal Owens: Prediction - will lose in second round of playoffs

Jason H-B: The Rockets definitely did their thing this year and only lost to what I consider to be the top two teams in the county. I don't see them making it out of the 4A West, but they could easily play spoiler for a team, as they did to the Jaguars a few years back. Teams better not think they can just run over these boys.

"Amateragi": The Rockets have pulled off surprises in the playoffs before, so don't let 'em sneak up on you.

27

LW: 25

16/17

LW: 14/17

6

SHERWOOD

7-2. LW: #6

Neal Owens: Prediction - will fall to Paint Branch in regions

Jason H-B: Ultimately proved the OT loss to Blake was a fluke and bounced back to have a very good season. Going to have a tough time in 4A North, but they definitely proved to me that they belong in the Elite 6. HM - Rockville - It was tough to not vote for them as number 6 after the very solid season they had, but that Seneca loss hurt them to a point where I just can't put them above Sherwood. I'm still excited to see what they do in the playoffs and how they build upon this success for the future.

"Amateragi": Entering the playoffs as a solid team but without a real quality win. Now or never for the Warriors.

LW: 36

LW: 16/17

Received Votes: WJ (2 pts, 2 votes). JHB on WJ: "Kudos to Coach Hurd and his staff. Very productive and solid year with a team that has been a joke in Montgomery County for a long time. I'm excited for the future of their program and love the jerseys as well. I don't see them winning it, but definitely have a solid foundation to build upon going forward."
