FINAL RANKINGS - 2012

1 DAMASCUS

(10-0), 3A

79 points, 9 first place votes

PLAYOFF TEAM

Hornets now are #1 in the 3A West region and host a solid Urbana team from Frederick County. Damascus will be packed on Friday night, so arrive early! -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

Solid win to close out the regular season and cue up a matchup with Frederick rival Urbana. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

Wraps up undefeated regular season in style.  Likely second round re-match with Seneca is only obstacle to trip to M&T. -Eric H., "Cover2"

2 SENECA VALLEY

(9-1), 3A

68 points

PLAYOFF TEAM

QB Calvin Reighard left with a possible concussion during the week 10 victory over Watkins Mill. #2 seeded Screamin Eagles will have a tough matchup with 9-1 North Hagerstown. -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

The Valley earned a home playoff game but because of their 1 pt loss to Damascus a few weeks ago will have to face North Hagarstown, whom I hear is very tough. The Eagles should move to the second round, but I have a feeling this game will come down to the wire. Selfishly, I am hoping for a Damascus-SV rematch in the 4A West final. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

Kim can't be happy with finale against Watkins Mill. Eagles will up the intensity and earn another shot at Dmass. -Eric H., "Cover2"

3 QUINCE ORCHARD

(9-1), 4A West

63 points, 1 first place votes

PLAYOFF TEAM

Cougars spanked Magruder 62-0! QO welcomes B-CC to the Cougar Dome for round 1 of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if we see another running clock. -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

The Cougars look like the strongest team headed into the playoffs and may very week be the best team in the county (even if they did lose to SV and SV lost to Damascus.) They look poised for a late postseason run that could end up with a State title, which would be poetic justice for a team that lost in such dramatic fashion last season. Food for thought: QO has outscored opponents 240-16 since losing to SV in week 5 and haven't allowed more than 13 points in a single game all year, including 5 shutouts. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

On cruise control the past couple of weeks. Cougars are favorite to return to State final.  BCC will be next whipping boy. -Eric H., "Cover2"

4 SHERWOOD

(8-2), 4A-East

50 points

PLAYOFF TEAM

Another big win for the Stormin Warriors over a good Churchill team clinched Sherwood a home playoff game against Catonsville. Sherwood is good enough to win the 4A North region. -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

The Warriors earned a nice win over Churchill to close out their regular season. The 4A North's 2 seed will host Catonsville next week. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

Warriors are ready for run after good win over Churchill. This team has gotten better every week.  Don't be surprised if they go deep into 4A. -Eric H., "Cover2"

5 NORTHWEST

(7-3), 4A-West

40 points

PLAYOFF TEAM

Another high scoring output in win over Richard Montgomery earned the Jags the #2 seed in the 4A West and a rematch against Churchill in Germantown. This game should be very competitive. -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

Northwest walloped RM in Week 10 setting up a rematch of Week 5 vs. Churchill. The Jags squeaked by with  27-24 victory. This game will be great and I think can go either way. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

Youth and no playoff experience might result in early exit but quite capable of putting lots of points up against Churchill. -Eric H., "Cover2"

6 CHURCHILL

(7-3), 4A-South

30 points

PLAYOFF TEAM

Loss to Sherwood in week 10 means the Bulldogs must win at Northwest to keep their dream alive. Churchill had Northwest on the ropes in their first matchup, can they finish the job on the road? -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

I thought Churchill would have a shot to win last week vs Sherwood, but they fell just short. Either way they are headed to the postseason to play Northwest. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

Second straight play off appearance is well deserved. Depending upon which Bulldog team shows up Northwest matchup could be best game of 1st Round. -Eric H., "Cover2"

7 BLAKE

(6-4), 4A-East

14 points

PLAYOFF TEAM

The Bengals reward for clinching their first ever playoff berth is to travel to 10-0 Westminster in the first round. Blake will have to play nearly perfect to leave Carroll County with a victory. -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

The Bengals are headed to the playoff for the first time in their school history. We wish them a MocoFootball Good Luck as they travel to face Westminster. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

Let down agains Einstein does not ruin best season in years. Westminster will be very tough. -Eric H., "Cover2"

8 WATKINS MILL

(7-3), 3A

10 points

Although the 7-3 Wolverines missed the playoffs, at this time I believe the are still better than Poolesville and B-CC, both of whom have made the playoffs. -Matt Miller, (@mattmiller8389)

B-CC (7-3) : PLAYOFF TEAM

5 points

I had B-CC as my No. 8 team to start the season and was MOCKED by  the MocoFball powers-that-be. All the Barons did was earn their second straight playoff berth by going 7-3. You can't argue with results and playoff berths... even if they have to play QO who has simply been killing teams for the last half of the year. -Matt Dewhurst, Comcast Sports (@deweydewhurst)

Schedule helped but Barons delivered when they had to. Season will end quickly in the Cougar Dome but program is on the rise. -Eric H., "Cover2"

POOLESVILLE (7-3) : PLAYOFF TEAM
